    The Barking Dog (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the website at thebarkingdogaz.com and The Barking Dog mobile apps (collectively, the “Services”). This policy describes the information handled through the Services, how it is used, and the service providers involved.

    Information We Collect

    Account and contact information. When you create or use an account, we may handle your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, emergency contact, authorized pickup information, account ID, and sign-in credentials. Saved credentials are stored securely on your device and are used to authenticate with our customer-management system.

    Pet and service records. Depending on the services you use, we collect pet profile details, photos, breed, age, weight, feeding instructions, behavior information, allergies, medications, medical conditions, veterinarian details, vaccination information, evaluation results, and records needed to safely provide daycare, boarding, grooming, and related services.

    Bookings and purchases. We process reservation details, service selections, agreements, estimates, invoices, deposits, packages, subscriptions, store credit, and transaction history.

    Payment information. Card details are entered in Square's secure payment interface and tokenized by Square. We receive a payment token, saved-card details such as card brand, last four digits and expiration, and transaction information. We do not receive or store your full card number or card security code.

    Files, messages, and support. We collect information you choose to submit, including pet photos, vaccination or other uploaded records, contact-form messages, and customer-support requests.

    Device and app activity. The mobile app handles push-notification tokens, device identifiers, notification preferences, and notification read status. A device token or identifier may be linked to your account after you sign in. We and our providers may also process basic device, security, and diagnostic information needed to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the Services.

    Website analytics. We use PostHog on our website, not in the mobile app, to understand website usage. This may include page views, button clicks, browser and device information, and approximate location derived from an IP address.

    How We Use Information

    • Provide and administer accounts, pet care, reservations, and customer service.
    • Process payments, packages, subscriptions, deposits, credits, and refunds.
    • Send booking, account, facility, safety, and other service-related communications.
    • Send promotional push notifications according to your preferences.
    • Maintain animal-care and business records and comply with legal obligations.
    • Prevent fraud, secure the Services, diagnose problems, and improve reliability.
    • Analyze and improve our website and understand which pages are useful.

    Service Providers and Sharing

    We disclose information to providers when needed to operate the Services, fulfill your requests, or meet legal requirements. These include:

    • Gingr, our customer, pet-record, booking, and account-management platform.
    • Square, which tokenizes payment details and processes cards, saved payment methods, payments, and subscriptions.
    • Firebase, Apple, and Google services used for push notifications, device security checks, and related app functionality.
    • Cloud hosting, file storage, infrastructure, and email-delivery providers.
    • PostHog for website analytics only.

    We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect customers, animals, our business, or others, or as part of a business transaction such as a merger or sale.

    Retention and Security

    We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain animal-care, reservation, transaction, and business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by record type.

    We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.

    Your Choices

    Account information. You can review and update account and pet-profile information through the app or customer portal, or contact us for assistance.

    Communications. You can adjust marketing notification preferences in the app and disable notifications in your device settings. Required account, booking, safety, and service messages may still be sent.

    Account Deletion

    You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

    To request deletion in the app:

    • Log into your account
    • Navigate to Account → Manage Profiles
    • Tap “Delete My Account” and submit the request

    If you cannot access your account, email scottsdale@thebarkingdogaz.com. Because accounts include animal-care and business records, requests may require review. We may retain records where reasonably necessary for animal care, reservations, transactions, dispute resolution, security, or legal compliance.

    What We Do Not Do

    • We do not sell personal information.
    • We do not show third-party advertising in the mobile app.
    • We do not use personal information to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.

    Children's Privacy

    The Services are intended for adult pet owners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us so we can address it.

    Changes to This Policy

    If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective” date above. For significant changes, we may also provide notice through the app or website.
